Molly Aunty Rocks - My Review
FDFS Tvm- Anjali
Status- 40-50%

After Passenger and Arjunan Sakshi, Renjith Shanker comes up with his latest offering Molly Aunty Rocks. It is  a woman-oriented film which has Revathy playing the title role. The film deals with Revathy who is a jolly middle-aged woman whose husband and 2 daughters are in the US. She used to work in a Bank in Kerala and after taking a long leave is back in Kerala.

Revathy likes to get things done her way and doesn't compromise with anything or anyone. Due to this attitude of her's, she gets into a lot of problems one of which brings Pranav (Prithviraj), a young assistant commissioner of Income Tax department into the picture. Prithvi is a confident and arrogant young man. As both Molly and Pranav have similar attitudes sparks fly leading to a twist in the tale which is the best part of the film. In one word, Molly Aunty Rocks is a very pleasant film which touches your heart and makes you smile. Renjith Shanker has learnt from his mistakes in Arjunan Sakshi and the result is a very straight-forward film without any formulaic stuff or larger-than-life heroism.

Revathy steals the show with an effortlessly impeccable performance. Prithviraj shows up only from the pre-interval sequences and doesn't have much to do but he does whatever is required of him with finesse. Mamokkoya gets probably one of his best characters and he rocks during the final 30 minutes with the director even giving him a solo slow-motion walk!! The first half is simple and laced with humour while the 2nd half from the interval takes the serious route towards a heart-touching climax. The direction is pretty good and the script is water-tight. The songs are good and BGMs pleasant.

 POSITIVES
  • Revathy
  • Mammokoya
  • Prithviraj
  • Direction

NEGATIVES

  • Nothing really

Genre- Comedy/Drama
Genre Rating- 4/5
Movie Rating - 3.75/5

Verdict- Molly Aunty Rocks is a pleasant movie worth watching. It is targeted mainly at the female audiences and families, they are sure to lap it up. Revathy comes up with a fine performance. Prithviraj might not have had much to do but his August Cinemas can add another feather to the cap after Urumi and Indian Rupee. Go for it!

~ MOLLY AUNTY ROCKS REVIEW~

After Passenger & Arjunan Sakshi,"RANJITH SANKAR ROCKS" again with yet another Socially Committed Movie.

1st half is Good with Nice starting, some comedy bits & brilliant takings.Prithvi's intro was just before the interval & it was Interesting.

2nd half is Simple 'n' Superb with some Funny & Matured performances, a Small & Excellent twist with Brilliant Climax & the movie ends in a Cool way.2nd half really attracted me.

Performance wise, Revathi has done an excellent job in the Title role as Molly. Nice Comeback.

Prithviraj was Superb as Pranav & his selection of this role deserves appreciations. Mamukkoya was Unbeatable & He gifts an Outstanding Performance as Adv.Salim Machery.
All other cast has done justice to their roles.

Now, Ranjith Shankar is one among My Favorite Directors. He is a Brilliant Maker & a Talented Screen writer.
In Molly Aunty Rocks, Renjith Sankar tells a Simple story with some social commitments. His Screenplay was Well Handled too. Nice work.

Cinematography by Sujith Vasudev was not Extra ordinary, but it was beautiful.Anand Madhusoodhanan' s Music was good to hear & BGM really suits to the movie.

Personally, i really Loved this Ranjith Sankar Film. :-)

All over, MOLLY AUNTY ROCKS is an EXCELLENT MOVIE with a Good Message.

My Verdict: A SIMPLE & SMART ENTERTAINER.
My Rating: 4/5.

"Charity oru Exhibition'um Publicity'um aakkumbol athu labhikkunnavaru de bhaaviyil oru karadu veezhukayaanu". .. :-(

Collosel disappointment from a director like Renjith Shanker. Weak script with average direction. Only saving grace was Mamukoya performance .

My rating: 4/ 10
No chance for a hit ,Trivandrum Lodge, Husbands in Goa will attract much better crowd.

Molly Aunty Rocks Review
As the title indicates, this is a heroine oriented film. Revathy plays the central character Molly, who was settled in America for a long time and currenty works in a bank in Kerala. Revathy has done a splendid job. Prithviraj appears just 5 minutes before the interval. It can't be considered as a 'hero' role and doesn't require an actor of his star value. It must be appreciated that Prithviraj took up this role and decided to be part of a good movie.

Lalu Alex, KPAC Lalitha, Mamukoya etc did their roles well. Script and direction is good but still could have been better. Narration is a bit slow. Seems like director Ranjit Shanker is one who believes that films should convey a message. Like his earlier films, this one also comes with a good socially relevant theme. When you leave the theater, the good intentions behind this film is what pleases you more. Those who can enjoy only typical mass entertainers, stay away. This is a good family movie.

My Rating- 7/10. Worth a watch.
