K.K. Rajeev is a familiar name in the Malayalam house holds . His popularity among the serial viewers in kerala is primarily due to the number of hit serials he has directed.Incidentally almost all of his serials have some sort of illegal relationships or former love stories of a married man as the theme . So when he entered into the cinema arena it is only natural that he would have taken a similar plot to live up to the expectations of his fans.
Njanum Ente Familyum is the story of a doctor family with Jayaram and Mamtha Mohandas playing the lead with both of them being doctors.The story enters when Manoj.K.Jayan comes into picture as a patient in front of Jayaram. Jayaram comes to know that the man in front of him is the husband of his ex lover. This ex lover character is played by the Palerimanikyam fame Mythili.
The performance by Jayaram and Manoj K Jayan is apt and to the point. Direction by K.K Rajeev is within the same serial fashion with some soap intended for the serial viewers.
By introducing almost all the necessities of a serial into cinema , the director has got himself a rare film.The script by Cherian Kalpakavadi is decent and does not trouble the viewers much.But the plot seems to be something everyone has seen over and over again and again. The same plot and the predictable story line does do not do the movie any good.
K.K Rajeev needs to do a lot of homework while foraying into cinema again.The boring characterisation present in serials does not work in cinemas much as the audience pool is entirely different.Much of the serial viewing fans that he has would never flock to the theatres for any cinemas.also many of the ardent movie viewers despise the serials. So there is a definite difference in the audience level.
Well that is the only reprieve he has.Only if his serial supporters go to the theatres.
A movie that can be watched to kill time. Do not expect anything fresh.
