Nanban Movie Review Tamil Film{ 3 Idiots} : Why I Liked It?

The most highly awaited Tamil movie of the year 2012 – Nanban has released with a bang in the theaters. Movie directed by the hit maker Shankar and starring Vijay,Jeeva,Srikanth and Ileana has made the film a much better flavor delivering a pongal feast to the audiences.

Shankar had to fight through the start to make this film. Many actors signed in and went out. Many were not interesting in the remake and many had reservations.
Nanban was originally cast with Vijay as hero . But
many differences hadmande Vijay to back off the film at a certain
stage.Suriya entered as hero and soon vanished. It was then that the
director Shankar could lay his hands back on vijay who agreed to do
the movie.
The co cast in the film were Jiva and Srikanth.
In fact these actors were never considered for the film in the first
case. They came as replacements for actors like Silambarasan ,Arya
,Madhavan ,Sidharth etc. Those actors would now be blaming themselves
for the lost opportunity.
Sathyaraj who plays the professor in the film was never
the original choice of director. Shankar had hoped to have the wily Prakash Raj in the film in that role. But luck favoured Sathyaraj.
Ileana the heroine was casted after actresses like Asin and Katrina Kaif downplayed the role.
But with the cast he had got director Shankar had made
a hell of a movie to watch.
Review : WORTHY FILM TO WATCH
The story line in Nanban is same as that of
the original 3 Idiots version of Hindi.Except for the innovative
climax Shankar has introduced in the movie the movie, story remains
the same with not much surprises.
The story revolves around Pari (Vijay)
and the 2 friends he gets when he joins the engineering college.
Senthil (Jiiva) and Venkatramakrishnan ( srikanth)
plays the friends to pari. The ideology of pari is to enjoy life and
to enjoy the studies. He criticizes the spoon feeding technique in
studies and also the need to learn huge definitions when
understanding the concept should take much importance.
Sathyaraj plays professor santhanam who is hell bent
on making the institute first class with every student getting good
marks. His concept of studies is just marks and earning high salaried
income. Never in his life had he thought of the need to think different
and to use your mind to find some new ideas.
The film is all about the differences in the 2 concepts
that arises between the student and professor. Wonderfully told, the
story is superb in its pure form. The film is relevant in the present
society as the story details a lot about the craze to get good marks,
craze to get good high salaried jobs and the mad rush for that.
With an interesting climax weaved into the film Shankar has made sure that a person who has watched the movie 3
idiots can still watch this one with all the entertainment
guaranteed.
Satyan rocks in the movie as the favourite student of Sathyaraj. He comes up with a good comical performance that demands originality.Hats off to him.......
Sathyaraj is apt for the role he has portrayed. He
makes us wonder if Prakash Raj had done the role would it have
been better? Well i don't think so....
Vijay has to be appreciated for having the sense to
return to the film that would otherwise have spelled a big loss in his
career life. With a difference his portrayal of his charachter in the
film makes us feel that vijay has appraised the role on par with Amir Khan.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ileana comes back to Tamil film industry with a sensible role
that added the flavours of a successful film.. She was necessary for
the songs. But i felt casting a sensible heroine was much better
than her.Expressions in many occasions were stagnant but was charming
and many of us would have forgotten the story line.
Last but not the least shankar has created a movie
that will eventually go down in history as how a remake should be
made. The movie never moving way from the concept was able to create
an interest in the audience through a sensible script. With a high
profile casting and the much needed hype the film is bound to be a
super hit.
