Photographic Eye: How to Acquire?

Since, the digital cameras have flooded markets photography has become easier, cheaper and fun. Many people didn’t try their hand at photography earlier because it was expensive, the hassle of getting your photos printed and then many of them turned out bad. Digital cameras have given you costless practice of clicking images but to take good pictures you need and eye for photography.
Photography is surely an art but it is also a craft and can be learned and perfected through practice. Photographers are not born with a photographic eye. They develop a creative and photographic eye with some time, effort and interest. Some people develop it quickly, while, some take time, but it is acquirable. Photographers are often trained to see things differently. Photography schools and even beginner’s workshops mostly teach the technical skills and just little about developing the eye. A very common exercise that can make your eye more apt for photography is by studying photographic images by other photographers.
A person who wants to photograph good should be always on the lookout for objects and scenes. So, never leave home without your camera. Make sure it's loaded battery and is within easy reach. Many times people miss very good spontaneous shots because the camera is not in reach. You never know when you will come across something interesting. So, always stay ready.
Wherever you are try to keep your eyes not only open but alert. Observe the environment, first you might need to put some effort but soon it will become habit if you continue. This way you will discover objects and mostly they are in the most unexpected places. Start looking everything with the eye of a camera, and start processing in frames. Imagine every scene is how it would come out in a picture.
If you are on a walk into the woods or near nature, try looking into the images behind the things. This takes some time, effort and close observation. A very common example of this is a petal or a leaf looking like a heart although it might not be heart shaped actually.
Spontaneous portraits are pictures that you can shoot anywhere people are present. One often comes across people with interesting faces or doing something unusual. Also, use different angles and light direction for the same object and see the difference. Develop this habit of taking many different shots of same object and study them later. It will help you learn and choose the best from a range of images.
Finally, know your camera. Explore and find the best settings for different kind of images.
