Biotech Products And Every Day Life

Biotech products are result of the development of Biotechnology which is a form of applied biology. Biotechnology uses living organisms and bioprocesses in the production of many biotech products. Biotechnology is not limited to medicine but it also has application in the agriculture. The biotech products that we know and use in every day life are various and for different purposes. In the past years the most loudly discussed biotech products are the Enzymes as well as the genetically modified foods. There are many biotech products that we use in our daily life and they play a great role in keeping and improving our health and life standard.

Vaccines are biotech products, which are possible solutions to many diseases in the modern world and are widely used in many developed countries. With the development of the genetically modified crops and foods like vegetables, fruits and grains that contain antigenic proteins many prospects accrued for different vaccines used to prevent serious diseases even for cancer.

There are antibiotics made from plants, which don’t cost much and are much more effective than the antibiotics made from mammalian cells. Flowers can also be modified by using biotech methods and result in improved colour, size and smell. These flowers are also biotech product, that after been genetically modified can grow in northern gardens where normally can not be found. Similar genetic modifications have been made to crops and plants that usually can be found in tropical environments, but due to the genetically modification they can grow in colder climates. Bio – fuels are biotech products that are very popular and people more and more use them in every day life.

Biodegradable plastic is another biotech product of the modern biotech industry. Biodegradable plastics can be produced from wheat, corn or potatoes by extracting plant polymers. Biodegradable plastic does not last as long as the normal one and it’s much more expensive so it is still not widely used. Biotech products are also the genetically modified foods that scientists have designed for the countries which suffer form shortage of food and basic life needs. These types of food are rich in nutrition and help people to build stronger immunity and fight against many diseases. One example is the development of the Golden rice rich in beta carotene that provides the vitamin A which is very important vitamin for the eyes.

There are also plants like biotech corn, potatoes and cotton which are high biotech products that do not need pest dusting against insects. To make these pest resistant crops called transgenic crops scientists used biotech protein. This protein is not harmful for people’s health and transgenic crops cost less to grow because are pest resistant.
