CHATTAKAARI REMAKE WILL HAVE SHAMNA KASIM [POORNA] IN THE LEAD.
Chattakari is the new film that is going to be remade in Malayalam. The original version of chattakari had Lakshmi and Mohan in the lead and was directed by director K.S.Sethumadhavan.
Now the same film is going to be remade by the son of the original director - Santhosh Sethumadhavan. The film will be produced by G.Suresh kumar under the banner of Reavathi Kalamandir.
The role was earlier given to Mythili and Nithya Menon . both of them rejected the offer. It is even reported that rejection from Nithya Menon to do chattakari had led to her getting banned by producers association.
But it is now decided that Shamna Kasim will don the role .Shamna Kasim or Poorna had acted in many roles in malayalam .But did not get the required attention. So she would be stakig her hopes high on Chattakari to elevate her career in cinema.
Swetha Menon did the remake of Rathinirvedam paving way for more such films and Chattakari will be another one in this regard.
Lakshmi played the Anglo Indian character named Julie in the original version. In fact the film gave Lakshmi the status of the ultimate sex symbol in Malayalam then.
