Kunjaliyan Movie Review

SHINE KERALA REVIEW RATING =7.5/10

Kunjaliyan has hit the theaters and has started getting the response from the masses. If the reports from the box office is to be believed the movie has created a niche for itself.

Jayasuriya and Saji Surendran had worked together before in 3 films-Ivar Vivahitharayaal, Happy Husbands and 4 friends. Kunjaliyan is the fourth movie in their combination. It has been announced that they will work together again in their fifth film – Husbands in Goa soon.

Kunjaliyan is the movie where Jayasuriya again plays the boy next door character. And it is proven again and again that Jayasuriya is too good in playing such characters.

After a highly successful year in 2011 with movies like Beautiful and Janapriyan, Jayasuriya would have definitely wanted to carry over the momentum to 2012 with a good movie. He can be assured that the movie has achieved that. Jayasuriya as the Kunjaliyan reminds us of the many sequences that had happened in our life.We recognizes our self with the character.

REVIEW
The story written by Krishnan PoojaPura is the highlight of the film. Jayasuriya plays Jayaraman who lives in the gopalapuram village. He has 3 sisters which are played by Bindu Paniker,Reshmi Boban and Thesni Khan . All are married. Vijayaraghavan, Jagdish and Ashokhan plays their respective husbands. The movie is about the difference in the behavior of his relatives before he goes to gulf [when he had no job and no money] and when he returns as a rich man from the gulf.

Wonderful direction by Saji Surendran and a relevant theme makes this film a worthwhile film to watch.Jayasuriya lives into the character. But the comedy sometimes seemed to be overdone in many sequences in the film and also the fact that the film dragged a bit after an entertaining first half cannot be overlooked.

The second half could have been done better. The climax degrades the movie.Saji Surendran should have taken some pains to develop the movie which felt good in the first half to end with a good or even a supporting climax. But apart from the normal mistakes that has affected the second half , the film was an okay entertainer that does not promises to be a hit.

Ananya as the heroine is charming and so is the support cast that includes the likes of Ashokan,Maniyampilla Raju,Vijayaraghavan,Jagdish , Suraj Venjaaramood,Thesni Khan and Kalaranjini. The songs in the movie are good and it creates interest in the minds of the audience.

A movie that can be watched by the family audiences....
