Players Hindi Movie Review :Bad Players and the Same Ideas Do not Make Good Hindi Movies
Shine Kerala review rating = 6/10
Players is the new hindi movie with Abhishek Bachan in the lead. Players is in fact the first hindi movie to be released in 2012. The movie is the Hindi adaptation of the famous Hollywood movie Italian Job.
With a mighty star cast that boasted of Bobby
Deol, Neil Nitin Mukesh,Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Omi Vaidya, the movie released on January 6 2012 all over India.
Before explaining anything about Players. A few words about the English version Italian Job.I loved watching Italian Job.The film had its share of mistakes and hiccups. But overall the movie was one of a treat to watch. Never boring and Jason Statham ruled the screens, though he was the second lead. I loved the movie and even recommended it to many of my friends as soon as i saw it.
Now adapting such a highly successful movie into the bollywood environment was never going to be easy. The sheer idea of such a remake will make the audience go gaga over it.It did . And the masses expected nothing short of a hit when Abbas Mustan joined the party. Abbas Mustan who had earlier made Saif Ali Khan a hero with the entertainer “Race” made the hype surrounding the movie even bigger
REVIEW
But did the film live up to the expectations of the common man? Movie would be an entertainer to anyone who have not seen the original version.but not to any guy who have seen it. I watched the movie with high expectations and though i feel relieved to see a good performance from Abhishek Bachan, i was disappointed at the movie in total. I wanted some twists in the movie from the original version just like the Shah Rukh Khan Don had done with the original Amitabh Bachan version. But no surprises there.
The cinematography is good and so is the Direction. Neil Nitin Mukesh as spider man is my worst pick and there is one healthy charchter portrayal by Omi Vaidya. The heroine Sonam Kapoor does her part well. Bobby Deol is expected to have the role he has done in the movie.
There are a lot of illogical sequences in the movie and comparing this one with the original Italian job seems like a far fetched idea. The music by Pritam could have improved a lot and definitely Bipasha Basu.
Abhishek Bachan has had an uneventful year in 2011 with many of his films failing at the box office. Starting 2012 with a hit was definitely in his new year resolution. But it seems like his wait is going to get bigger.
With a total budget of around 45 crores, it remains to be seen if the movie can be successful when the Shah Rukh Khans Don is doing rounds with the audience in theaters.
The movie is watchable with no surprises but do not watch it with any expectations.
