The atmosphere is perfect for a nice vacation with some of the perfect beaches, waterfalls, backwaters, natural beauty and some exotic dishes. But the question that may trouble many who plans to visit kerala is that when is the best time to be there?
Many tour operators specify that the best time would be from the months of october to march. As during these times the climate would be pleasant and would not be too harsh on the foreign visitors.
But it depends on totally what you want to enjoy. If you need to understand the true beauty of kerala , then it happens only in the rain it gets in the months of June -August.The rains can be heavy or light - cannot be predictable. But the views of the nature reaches at its best then. Kerala becomes a perfect landmark for any nature photographer during these months.But the troubles you would have to live with will be tough.Specially for foreigners who are not used to the rainy seasons, the climate may seem like a never ending downpour of troubles.
So ideally as the tour operators say the ideal time to visit kerala is during the perfect months of October - March. But if you are going for some thing unique and is willing to take the troubles , you are in a for a treat during the months of May end - August.
Apart from the natural landmarks what sets kerala apart is the unique culture this small country has.The number of visitors who comes every year to learn and see art forms like Bharathanatyam ,Mohiniyattam , Kathakali, Koodiyaattam are only increasing.But these art forms are fast dying with not much takers from the new generations.
So if you need to visit kerala to understand better about the culture and festivals then the best months would be April [ Thrissur Pooram ] ,August [Onam] and December [Theyyam festival].
So taking all the factors into account it is up to you to decide the time you visit kerala. But never forget to visit this small miracle a it would be the biggest mistake ever in your life.
