Asuravithu is the new Malayalam movie that has been released on January 6 2012. In fact it is one of the first batch of Malayalam movies that have been released in 2012. The movie includes a wide star cast of Asif Ali ,Samvrutha Sunil ,Biju Menon ,Baburaj, Jagathy Sreekumar ,Nivin Pauly ,Siddique ,Vijay Raghavan ,Vijay Kumar ,Lena ,Vidyalakshmi and Seema G.Nair.
The movie is directed by A.K.Sajan who had earlier directed the Suresh Gopi starred Lanka which was a flop at the box office. He took a break after that film and has now re emerged in the Malayalam film scenario with one of the most discussed works in the industry.

Asuravithu includes Asif Ali who had never done a solo action hero character before.The movie can be said to be a runway for Asif Ali and whether he gets the flight depends upon the success of this movie....though it is considered a bold move on the part of the young actor who had made waves in 2011 in the Malayalam film industry with the highest number of successful films, he must have taken pains to understand that this one character could make him or break him.

Asif Ali plays Don Bosco in the film. Don Bosco is a normal guy who we can see along the streets. He joins the seminary. The film takes the turn when Asif Ali decides that he is not the one to be a priest.The movie in these sequences are gripping and the portrayal by Asif Ali is definitely one of the best.Baburaj too comes up with a good role in the movie.
But the movie goes the same path the endless movies in Malayalam has treaded before.A new idea and story line here could have been much more acceptable than the humongous line the movie had gone. Asif Ali maintains his character well but not with much support in the second half.
The film has been shot in the wide locations spanning Cochin coastal areas. Samvritha Sunil too takes a change in her character from the ever smiling favorite heroine of Malayalam to do a sensible and quite challenging character.Lena lends some nostalgia to the film with her effortless acting.
The story has been written by A.K.Sajan himself and the film is produced by Shaji Thanaparambil.Music has been done by the veteran Alphonse and Rajesh Mohan.The film has been distributed all over under the Leela media release.
The movie has been marketed all over purely as an action flick. It is interesting to note that even the superstars of Malayalam these days try to inculcate some comedy into any action film and promote it as a comic action thriller. The guts of A.K.Sajan to move away from such ideology is refreshing to the audience who cannot remember which was the last successful pure action film in Malayalam.
