Basic Rules For Safe Driving

Some researches state that a person spends even up to hundred hours per week in their cars and most of them forget about the rules that apply for safe driving. If you are one of those who spend a lot of time on the road and in the traffic, ask yourself if you are a conscious driver. Do you respect the rules for safe driving, or you are just trying to get to your destination somehow or the other. Bare in mind that safe driving is not only for the other participants in the traffic but it’s also for you, your life and safety. Here are some basic rules that you should follow for safe driving and if they slipped away from your memory, maybe you should refresh it and refer to the book that you used to learn before taking the driving exam.

Respect these simple rules for safe driving and respect the other participant in the traffic.
Queuing – the most common crashes happen when you are being hit from behind while you are queuing. When you are in the queue, keep a distance between your car and the ones that are in front and behind you and always keep an eye on the mirror.

Have an escape plan and ready in gear with handbrake on, keeping the brake lights on. Safe driving is especially important in wet and rainy days. Roads can be slippery and the visibility low. So you should use dipped headlights and keep the speed limit low. During sunset or sunrise, be aware of possible dazzling and keep your windscreen clean. When you are driving in a single line roadway you have to keep a distance from other cars from the other line. Remember safe driving is not only for you. Safe driving is highly important when you are on motorways. Motorways are usually very busy and people tend to drive very fast.

First of all, use a slip road to enter the motorway that has to match your driving speed. Always keep the most left if you are in a left driving country or the most right if you are in a right hand driving country. Maintain a constant speed and do not change it too much and when it is not necessary. When overtaking always check the mirrors and have a look over your shoulder to check the blind spots and use the side light to indicate your attention. Safe driving is easy and you should not have major problems if you follow the rules and keep your speed on the advised limit. Those rules are made for you and the safety of other participants in the traffic. Do not try to avoid these rules and always respect the other traffic participants.
