Gaming just like any other activity has its advantages and disadvantages. Most people urge that gaming only does more harm than good. This is true but to some extent gaming can also prove to be advantageous based on what the gamer will learn from a particular game.
Gaming advantages have to do more with acquiring skills and knowledge. Gamers tend to acquire problem solving skill as they progress in different games. Most games will require one to either solve a problem or complete some tasks in order to move to the next level or win the game. The problem solving skills they acquire can then be put to practice in real life situations.
Games can also offer educational knowledge based on savings and how to make purchases. Gamers are often required to accumulate as many points as possible as this will serve as their money for acquiring the necessities they will need to solve or accomplish the games goal. With such knowledge, real life situations shouldn’t be hard to handle as one will have the knowledge of how to save and purchase items in order of priority.
Some of the disadvantages of gaming include too much time wastage. Gaming can lead to addiction. Meaning gamers will spend more time gaming than doing other productive things like working or even schooling in cases where school attendees are involved. There are cases where individual have lost their jobs due to gaming and school attendees failing their exams.
The other disadvantage of gaming is the promotion of violence. Most computer games are too violence and according to the research carried out by Craig Anderson of American Psychological Association, it shows that most gamers usually turn violent due to the violent natures of the games they play.
