The Most Common Pregnancy Symptoms

There is a wide range of pregnancy symptoms and they can vary from woman to woman. Some women do not experience even one pregnancy symptom and others experience many of them. The first pregnancy symptom that should be an alarm for a test or a gynaecologist visit is the missed menstrual period. There are some women that still get period even after they have conceived a child but these cases are not so common. The second common pregnancy symptom is morning sickness and nausea. This symptom usually starts within two to eight weeks and it occurs in the morning. The nausea though can occur at any time of the day. Some women experience this symptom during the whole period of the pregnancy, and some don’t experience it at all. Some women are getting sick even after they see or smell some food without even tasting it, others go through this period easily and without much trouble.

Tender, swollen or soar breasts is another common pregnancy symptom. Women notice changes in the sensitivity and the sizes of the breasts as well as the colour of the nipples. These signs also appear in the PMS, during some hormonal changes or while taking birth control pills. Another early pregnancy symptom is that your abdomen will inflate and you will fill like bursting out at any moment. This feeling resembles the feeling that you have experienced just before your period. Enhanced sensitivity to tastes and smells is also very common pregnancy symptom. Women become sensitive even on tastes and smells that they used to like before. This pregnancy symptom usually starts in the early stages and probably occurs because of the increased level of oestrogen.

Frequent need for urination usually starts six weeks after the conception. This happens because during the pregnancy the amount of blood and fluids increases. After the body processes the fluids, the excess end up in the bladder and the woman has the need for urination. The truth is that, as the baby grows it presses on the bladder and the woman ends up running to the bathroom every ten minutes. Many women experience cravings for different types of food. Sometimes they crave for some food that they never liked before. Women crave for sweet, sour or salty, it might happen once or it might happen during the whole pregnancy.

If you chart your basal temperature in the morning and you notice on the chart that for eighteen days in a row your basal temperature has been increasing, than you should consider that it might be because you are pregnant. Many of these pregnancy symptoms are similar to those that occur in the period before the menstrual cycle, which is well known among the women as PMS. If you are suspecting on pregnancy you should make urinal test for home usage and if the test shows positive result you should definitely go for a gynaecological check up.
