It is easier to threat it than defeat it. Preventive medicine is preventing the appearance of diseases through the adoption of proper life style, immunization and similar methods. Preventive medicine is consisted in both curative and palliative medicine each branch is dedicated on curing, preventing, reducing and relieving the symptoms of the disease. There are four levels in preventive medicine, each one of them takes care for different stages of a disease.

The first or primary level of preventive medicine is concentrated on educating and health promotion activities among people. This strategy is intended to educate people in order to avoid diseases. Simple examples from every day preventive medicine at this first level, is when kids learn that is very important to wash their hands properly so to prevent many common diseases, or to brush their teeth regularly in order to keep and sustain healthy teeth and gums. Another example of preventive medicine is educating people on how to prevent themselves from AIDS, or cancer, or blood pressure, and common cold and flu.

Apart from these educational strategies this first level of preventing medicine includes diverse tests and screenings for people who have a disease in the family history. For example if someone has a family history of cancer, epilepsy or a heart disease doctors might advice an early tests and screenings, in order to discover and follow the possible occurrence in the early stage. Parents, who expect a baby or are planning to have a baby, would be advised and educated about the consequences of epigenetic influences on their child if one of the parents has a genetically transmitted diseases and conditions.

The secondary stage of preventive medicine aims towards implementing prevention strategies for early diagnosing and treating already existing disease, in its earliest stages before developing to higher levels when it would be much harder to cure and avoid larger complications.
The third stage of the primary medicine includes methods and practices which reduces the negative effects from already established diseases. The last stage of the preventive medicine includes a group of health activities and treatments that lessen or avoid the consequences of needless and extreme interventions in the health routines.

Preventive medicine methods are present in every day life among all people, especially with children and students when they are vaccinated at against different disease. People themselves can utilize methods from preventing medicine without even going to see a doctor. For example, a preventive medicine method would be to stop using dangerous substances and quit smoking, drinking, or taking drugs. A method of preventive medicine in every day life would be to reduce stress and start doing meditation, yoga, doing sport activities in order to prevent, cardiovascular disease, cancer, high blood pressure or other modern life diseases.
