This is the division of the laptop’s hard drive. Due to new versions of operating systems a lot of people would prefer to have more than one operating system on their laptops to utilize different functionalities due to different programs they have installed in their laptops. Attacks due to viruses while downloading files on the internet and malicious software may cause destruction of files in your hard drive. To minimize this you partition your hard disk in an attempt to save your very important files. These are the steps involved in partitioning a laptop’s hard drive:
Have a back up of your files. In order to partition the hard disk you need to reformat it, this involves deleting all your files. Therefore, you have to store all your files and programs in an external hard disk, flash disk or CD/DVD. This is to ensure than after partitioning the hard disk you have a source of files and programs to be installed to the laptop again.
This practice is for old or used laptops with existing operating system and files.

Partition it basing on your requirements.
Identify the size of the drive you want to create for your partition, format it then install the OS in it. Finish installing your OS.
