Chilly peppers – hot, hotter, hottest, Infinity

The chilliest pepper on the Earth is called Infinity which means “eternity”. The name was chosen because Infinity is so chilly that it its chilly effect can’t be stopped even with the most effective way – milk. Novices in hot peppers eating may even end up in hospital after trying “Eternal” pepper, because it causes blisters and burns in the mouth. It grows in England and on the scale of the stiff, which assesses how hot one pepper is, is 1 067 286 unites. This scale, named Scoville units, is developed by scientist to determine the variety of hot chilies. It is determined by measuring how much water with sugar is necessary to drink to put under control the chili taste of the pepper. The previous chilliest pepper was the Indian hot pepper Bhut Jolokia, which has 1 041 3427 unites. For comparison, normal peppers have 2500 – 5000 unites on this scale! Pepper spray for self defenses is 2 million units. No matter how hot the Indian capsicum is, the English one is bitterer. The hot pepper Bhut Jolokia is so chilly that it is used as a chemical weapon in the manufacture of grenades for the Indian Army.
The creators of Infinity are Woody Woods and Matt Simpson. They raised this new chilly pepper in a greenhouse by crossbreeding existing varieties of chilies to create it. They said that the taste of Infinity is “like eating glowing coal”. It has already been included in the Guinness Book of Records. The creators said that when you initially tried capsicum, it is nice to taste, but the problems come later:”Just hit me, I suddenly felt burning in the back of my throat was so hot that I could not speak. I began to shake uncontrollably, had to sit down, I felt physically very sick. To grow such a burning hot chili in our climate is unbelievable” said Nick.  He doesn’t recommend anyone to eat such a raw pepper. Still he is proud that even almost nobody can’t taste his creation, Infinity will remain in the Guinness Book of records!
