             Edappal is situated in Malappuram district,Kerala.Edappal is a small town in between Calicut and Thrissur districts.There is NH 17 road connecting Calicut and Thrissur through Edappal.Ponnani is the town closer to Edappal and it is 10 km west of Edappal.Nearby attraction of Edappal is Sukapuram Temple which is near to Edappal .It is the only Dakshinamoorthy Temple in South India. It is just 1 km from Edappal Junction.

EDAPPAL HISTORY

             The name Edappal derived from the word ‘EDAPALAYAM’,which means an ‘intermediate place’.It got that name because,it was a resting place of Zamorin army on their way  to get the southern Kerala .

              Biyam Kayal Boat  is very famous in Kerala and all over the world. Biyam Kayal is a beautiful lake situated near Ponnani .Every year, during onam season ,a boat race is organised here .Ahuge number of people from across the state flow to here to see the boat race. Women also participate in these race. Now  the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) has developed many sports facilities by looking future.A rest house is there for the tourists to enjoy these race and for good holidays.The well known  port Ponnani is situated near Edappal. It is  well known for fishing harbor and beach.
