Self confidence or lack of it makes a person successful or otherwise. Self confidence is a belief in one’s abilities. Self confident people trust in their abilities to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. Self confidence is a realistic belief which doesn’t mean an individual can achieve anything; rather it means a person is in a positive frame of mind to make best use of his talents to achieve positive outcomes.
Self confidence gives a mindset that what you are doing is right and it will let you know of those who want to put you down by their negative opinions. Self confidence has the ability to infect others. A single self confident person can change the attitude of many people. A confident person attracts success and friendships because it’s the self confidence that gets all the attention.
Lack of self confidence will make it impossible for you to do anything. Low self confidence level shows in everything a person does. It prevents a person from taking initiatives and making quick decisions, which is almost equal to paralyzing him. A person cannot move forward unless he takes challenges and risks. A person with low confidence lacks the belief that if something goes wrong it can be put right. Lack of confidence can make you lose opportunity standing right in front of you, whereas, unexpected situation are not less than nightmares for such person.
Parents never realize when their child is losing confidence. They make no effort to stop this loss of confidence, let alone, build it. A child forced to take part in activities against his desires will instill a fear of losing in him, which leads to lack of self confidence. Parents should actually look for what their children are good at and make them do those things. Excelling at these things will build a child’s confidence and he will grow up into a self-confident person.
Self confidence is not only important for success in business or work life but it is also necessary for love life. Women do not like the men who are not sure of anything and keep questioning themselves about what if she doesn’t like this or what if she doesn’t like me. Self confidence gives you assurance about yourself.
Developing self confidence takes a lot of practice but there are certain points to keep in mind. Self consciousness drains confidence; don’t give in to self consciousness. Give yourself credit for your achievements. Don’t be a hard critic of yourself and never quickly label yourself a failure. Always remember, very successful people also faced failures sometimes in their life. Start from doing things that you are good at and increasing your skills one by one. The rate of improvement in self confidence depends on the individual.
