Care for your skin

Many of us look for skin solutions to make it look beautiful. But, before that let’s just take a brief look towards the basics of our skin…. it being the largest organ of our body. The integumentary system is a system that protects our body from various damages. This system includes our skin and its appendages. Our skin has an outer covering known as the epidermis. An epidermis is the outer most layer of the skin that protects the human body from a variety of pathogens, sensation, heat regulation, loss of fluid. Skin also acts as a storage organ for lipids and water and also carries out the function of synthesis for some of the essential vitamins beneficial to our skin. The skin acts as a water resistant barrier so that essential nutrients aren't washed out of the body.
So realizing the worth of our skin it becomes our prime responsibility to pamper it. Skin hygiene is extremely important as dirty, unclean skin favors the growth of many pathogenic microorganisms that in turn would favor the development of skin diseases.
Regular cleaning and scrubbing would in one way help to remove the accumulated dead cells that in some manner would aid in keeping the skin healthy enough.
Skin care has to vary with the skin type one has. Oily skin is one such skin type that needs utmost care. Oily skin is caused by over production of a substance called sebum. Sebum is a natural healthy skin lubricant. Due to it’s over production the skin becomes grave and chunky in texture. The objective of treating such skin is to remove the excess of sebum that gets accumulated on the surface. Make use of natural face cleanser specially devised to treat oily skin. The pH of such products should be between 4.5 - 5.5. Make sure your product does not contain any waxes or synthetic lipids that would further exacerbate the oiliness texture of your skin….
Dry skin is a sign of premature ageing. Almost every day we loose a considerable amount of water through the skin….. and this goes unnoticed!!!! However, replenishing this water by drinking more fluids does not solve the problem. Maintaining a proper moisture balance is what is exactly required to treat dry skin. Such a balance is synchronized by chemical reactions that take place in the skin tissues. Look for moisturizers that have liposomes, ceramides and sphingolipids as the active ingredients. These elements would take care of moisture loss by tightly holding the skin together so that the spheres can encapsulate water. Go ahead…. Use creams/moisturizing lotions that suits your skin condition and delay ageing.

In addition to this, make your skin look beautiful and radiant by just following the four simple steps. 1. Cleansing; 2. Exfoliate using scrubs; 3. Moisturizing (based on your skin type) and 4. Sun screen application
