Food is the chief essential materials which the body needs for its well being. These essential materials are called nutrients. Good food is indispensable for health at all stages of life for satisfactory growth during infancy, childhood, adolescence and adulthood. Wholesome food in adequate quantities is no less important for pregnant and nursing woman since they undergo a several nutritional stress.
In order to obtain an adequate amounts of each of the different nutrients. The daily diet should include appropriate amount of quantities of a variety of different food stuff. A diet in which various food stuff are mixed in suitable proportion to carry out adequately.
Eating habits have changed with the times, the changes are faster now. The latest is ‘fast food’ for a fast life. Human diet is not restricted to any special category of food. Whereas most of the animals they stick to routine menu man can and does eat a variety of foods of both plants and animal origin variety is for him, the spice of life more in food than in anything else. This natural desire for variety is justified by the fact that no single food provides us with all the nutrients that we need.
Cereals like rice or wheat which forms the staple of mankind, supply us only with a fraction of a nutritional requirements. We have to supplement cereal with other food that provides plenty of fat and proteins and minor quantities of vitamins and minerals. A balanced diet simply means a diet that will supply all the necessary nutrients for the growth and the development of the body.
Dieting actually make u live longer, but it surely makes you feel that way, nevertheless, evidence has been accumulating since 1930s that calorie restriction reducing animal’s energy intake below its energy expenditure extends life span and delays the onset of age- related diseases in rats, digs, fish and monkeys. Such results have inspired thousands of people to put up with the constant hunger in the hope of living longer and healthier lives.
