HARMFUL EFFECTS OF SMOKING

In the present world smoking has become the major cause of mortality with the bronchogenic carcinoma of the lung. It is one of the factors causing death due to malignancies of larynx, oral cavity, and esophagus, bladder, kidney, pancreas, stomach and uterine cervics and coronary heart disease. Nicotine is the major substance present in a smoke which causes damage to body organs these are the harmful activities  which produces damage to the body for example ammonia can result in a 100 fold increase in the ability of nicotine to enter into the smoke. Levulinic acid which is added to a cigarette to mask the harsh taste of the nicotine can increase the binding of nicotine to brain receptors which increases the push of nicotine. Smoke from the burning end of a cigarette contains over 4000 chemicals and 40 carcinogens. It has long been known that tobacco smoke is carcinogenic meaning cancer causing.
The lungs of a smoker collects an annual deposit of 1 to1 pound of gooey black material, the invisible phase of cigarette smoke contains nitrogen, oxygen, and toxic gases like carbon monoxides, formaldehyde , acrolene, hydrogen cyanide and nitrogen oxides. These gases are highly toxic and in many cases they interfere with body’s to transport oxygen like many other carcinogenic compounds, they acts as tumor promoters or tumor initiators by acting directly on the genetic make- up of cell of the body leading to the development of a cancer. During smoking within first 8 to 10 seconds nicotine and gets absorbed through the lungs and it quickly move into the blood streams and circulated .throughout the body and brain. Nicotine can also enter through mucous membrane that line mouth (if tobacco is chewed) or nose (if snuff is used) and even through the skin. Our brain is made up of billions of nerve cells they communicate with each other by chemical messengers called neuron transmitters. Nicotine is one of the most powerful nerve poison and it binds the stereo selectively to nicotine receptors located in the brain neuron muscular junctions located throughout the brain they play a very important role in incognitive processes and memory.
Some experts say that smoking is linked with memory problems because it is responsible for narrowing the arteries which obstructs the flow of blood to the brain. One of the causes of memory decline in relation to the brain function could be nerve cell death. Avoiding smoking is essential not only to avoid systemic effects of smoking but also to reduce the ill effects of smoking on the environment.
