Failing to prepare is preparing to fail, there are more things to prepare for other than your physical presence in an interview. To improve your chances of succeeding or having an edge over the rest you need to prepare.
It’s very important to prepare because; you will be relieved from tension and feel relaxed, know more about the type of job, predict on the type of questions you may be asked during the interview and probably have the correct answers to them, market yourself to the board of selectors and have a feeling of satisfaction after the interview.
You should prepare yourself for an interview in the following ways;
ü Research about the company and the job: It’s important to have some basic information about the company; what type of business the company is in, its products and services and history and also the type of job you are looking for.
ü Be presentable: they say you should not judge a book by its cover but first impression matters a lot in the professional world. You have to look smart and dressed appropriately for the job to be taken seriously.
ü Be punctual: Never arrive late for an interview to show that you are a professional and if possible arrive like 30 minutes earlier so as to get familiar with the place and locate the place where the interview is conducted and to save the hassle of locating offices.
ü Prepare for interview questions: anticipate questions about the job type before going for the interview and try to come up with the best possible answers.
Prepare questions to ask: To show some interest on the job, at least look for a question that you will ask the interview concerning the job or company
