ICC WORLD CUP CRICKET 2011

The International Cricket Council will hold 10^th 2011 world cup matches from 19^th February 2011. The competition is hosted by three test cricket playing countries of South Asia. The countries are Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.

Initially at the time of finalizing the venues, Pakistan was also in the list of co-hosting countries. But later on considering the security problem in Pakistan and especially after the Lahore attack on Sri Lankan team, the International Cricket Council decided to exclude Pakistan from its hosting rights. Therefore, the 14 matches which were supposed to be played in Pakistan were shifted to remaining host countries accordingly. Bangladesh 2 matches, India 8 matches and Sri Lanka 4 matches.

Previously played 9 World Cup was won and played in the countries are as under.

In the 10^th event of International Cricket Council World Cup 2011 has more number of games as compare to previous world cup,  because the teams participating in the tournament has increased to the extent of 14 in numbers.

The 14 teams are divided in 2 Groups. Group A and Group B each Group is consisting of 7 teams. In the first round the teams of same group will play with each other and finally 4 winners from each Group will play the second round super eight. Out of 8 countries playing supper eight there will be 4 winners who will move to Semi Final and the last 2 winners of Semi Final will come against each other in the Final of ICC World Cup 2011 and the winner will be the Champion of the 10^th World Cup and will get the Trophy.

The main problem ICC is facing in the preparation of this tournament is that the Host Nation has failed to complete the grounds and is still under construction. The venues where the finals are supposed to be played such as Eden Garden in Kolkata and the Wakened Stadium in Mumbai are yet to be completed. However, they have been given grace period to complete these grounds and make it ready for play.
