THE GAMING WORLD

Gaming can be described as the running of electronic games on machines built for gaming purposes. The gaming world has since evolved from simple hand gadget games to more complex computer game that can be played online. It has grown from the simple game of pong, that was the first electronic game, a version of ping pong that simply used a bar to bounce a ball up and down to more complex games that have enhanced graphics, 3D effects and full motion effects to make the game comparable to real life situations.
Due to social networking, gamers now find it easier to communicate with other gamers all over the world. They can share their different or similar opinions about different games and machines that are available in the market. Through this, the gaming world has also grown in terms of the increased number of gamers to an extent that gamers now hold LAN parties.
A LAN party simply means gamers meet at a specific location to play and compete on online computer games. They usually bring their own computers and connect them to the LAN within the specified location but in some countries such parties are held by companies involved in the gaming business as a way of marketing their products. In such occasion the company will provide the computers and internet service, all gamers need to do is to pay a small fee in order to gain access into the venue.
Although games have been used by many as a past time activity, the gaming world has and is still receiving criticism from different humanitarian groups. They claim that some of the content used on the games can be too violent, sexually explicit for certain age groups and even xenophobic. The groups also raise concerns about the increasing levels of addiction to games by the youth.
