Global Warming

Green house gases; carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, water vapor and methane, trap heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere causing sharp increase in temperature. This heating of the earth is referred to as global warming. Animals, humans and plants that cannot take the change in temperature die.
The greenhouse gases cause the green house effect, this is the increase in temperature because the sun’s light and heat is trapped in the earth’s atmosphere.
The increase in temperature can be helpful to human beings sometimes, without it the world would be burning hot or freezing, it makes the world an appropriate place to live in. During daytime in summer, it would be burning because the sun would be up high with no atmosphere to filter it, humans, plants and animals would be exposed to that much light and heat. At night it would be freezing because the sun would be down.
Although the green house effect makes the world an appropriate place for people to live in, if it gets to be too many gases, the earth will get unusually warmer killing a lot of plants, animals and human beings. This is because plants will due to the gases leading to a food shortage and humans and animals will die of hunger.

Effects of global warming on the environment.
It makes seas and other water bodies to rise covering many low land islands, the water covers a lot of plants on the islands. The habitat and source of food for people and animals living on the islands is destroyed hence the may die due to hunger. Humans will be forced to vacate the area because their homes have been destroyed.
Global warming causes warming of the ocean water which harms and kills algae in the ocean. Algae is a producer, it produces food for other animals through photosynthesis, the floating green algae is food to many consumers in the ocean. This will cause food shortage and death of sea animals due to lack of food.
Pollution as a result of green house gases leads to acid rain, acid rain gradually destroys everything it touches. Warming of the earth also causes plants to dry so much that they can easily catch fire and wipe out the whole forest. This affects animals and human life because forests attract rainfall and without it there will be lack of food for both animals and humans. Also trees are a habitat to animals and with their distraction they will lack a home leading to humans animals conflict.

Causes of global warming.
Electrical pollution causes global warming, when fossil fuels (oil and petroleum) are burned to produce electricity, many pollutants are sent to the air. Some other examples of using energy and polluting the air are;  watching TV, turning on a light, washing or drying clothes, listening to a stereo, driving a car, using a hair dryer, warming some food in a microwave, using an air conditioner, playing a video game and using a dish washer. When you are using these things, you create electricity used by these things this causes pollution by sending green house gases in the atmosphere. Garbage thrown on landfills and burnt when the landfills are full sends enormous green houses into the atmosphere. Deforestation increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the air because trees and plants take in carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a green house gas hence its increase in the air leads to global warming.

Ways of stopping global warming.
Carpooling is one of the ways of reducing green house gases in the air. People are driving together in a car instead of every one driving in his own car when going to a place.
People are also spending some time outdoors instead of watching television, also lights and computers are not left on when not used.
Trees are also being planted to take in the carbon dioxide from the air. Recycling is being practiced to reduce cutting of trees.
