Training your Puppy

Dogs always learn, considered to be fast learners, but learn well when they are young. This is the most important time to influence your dog’s behavior so, you should start training your dog immediately you bring it home.
Your dog can also learn without your help but not what you want it to, you should teach your puppy your rules before it starts making its own. To help train your puppy, provide him a well fitted collar, a designated playing area, suitable toys and a private place to sleep. The young dog should learn to wear a new collar, eat only from its bowl, come when called and wait for command and sleep on its designated area or bed.
You can train your puppy using the following ways:
Reprimand your Puppy. Puppies are curious chewers and investigate their environment by tasting and playing by biting. Discipline it by saying a firm ‘NO’ but never hit it.
Do not isolate it. Puppies are social animals and like playing, set up its bed or resting area where a lot of people in the house pass by like a corner near the kitchen.
Control its biting and chewing. Non-toxic bitter spray are available in pet shops which you can apply on articles you don’t want the puppy to chew or bite, even your hands.
Teach it to wait. Family members eat before the dog, the puppy should be trained to wait and be patient then served.
Teach it respect. All responsible family members in the household should handle the dog, it should learn to respect all the family members.
People go fisrt. Puppies like rushing through dogs, train to wait for humans first, by doing this you are asserting your authority over it.
Entice it. Use food enticements to train your puppy which activities aren’t allowed, it will learn faster.
