SARS: ACUTE RESPIRATORY SYNDROME

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is viral respiratory disease caused by a corona virus. SARS was first detected in Asia in February 2003 over the next month this disease had spread to more than two dozen countries in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The SARS global outbreak of 2003 was controlled; however it is quite possible that this disease could reemerge in the near future.
It symptoms include high fever (above38c) and cough and breathing problems, more of the following exposures during the ten days before the onset of symptoms, closed contacts like (having cared for, lived with, or had direct contact with respiratory secretion or body fluids) with person who is suspected to be the patient of SARS or probable case of SARS, travel to different places or an living in an area with recent local transmission of SARS.
The basic way by which SARS is seems to be spreading is by close person to person contact. The virus that causes SARS is thought to be transferred more easily by respiratory droplets (droplet spread) produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes droplet spread can occur when the droplet from cough an d sneeze of an infected person are propelled a short a short distance (generally up to one meter) through the air deposited on the mucous membrane of the mouth, nose or eyes of a person who is nearby. The can also spread when a person comes in contact with the surface or objected contaminated with infectious droplets and then it comes in contact with his or her mouth, nose or eyes furthermore, it is likely possible that the SARS virus might spread more abundantly through air (airborne spread) or by many other way that are not yet known to human beings.
For the prevention of SARS wash your hands more frequently than before particularly after touching public surfaces example phones, elevator buttons, bathroom handle, when returning from outside, after shaking hands and before eating. A properly washed hand is good only for 30 seconds, one should avoid being around the people who are sick and avoid touching face because this is a common way by which infectious disease spread, your hands get infected with droplets and they get transferred to your mouth, nose or eyes. One should practice good house hold hygiene, regularly disinfecting the surface and air conditioner filter with commercial disinfectant. Do not share utensils and drinking glasses, use a separate serving spoon if eating out of shared dishes, and use a clean tissue every time you cough or sneeze and throw away the tissue immediately. Build your body resistance by getting enough rest, good nutrition and exercise.
