Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast cancer is known to originate from the breast tissues either on the milk duct or the lobules. Breast cancer of the milk duct is known as ductal carcinomas while from the lobules are known as lobular carcinomas.
Breast cancer is said to be the major type of cancer among women totaling to 10.4% worldwide and it is 100 times more common in women than in men. There is breast cancer cases that can e treated. Such cases involve breast cancer that has hormone receptors such as estrogen or progesterone all that is done is to block the effects of the hormone to the effected areas. Cancer cases that have no hormone receptors are hard to cure and can be treated more aggressively than those that have hormone receptors. This type of cancer normally advances in the lymph nodes or have a genetic trait in them.
Breast cancer can first be noticed by the presence of a lump that is different from the rest of the breast tissue. This can be done through the breast examination which is easy and can be done at home. Other signs and symptoms of breast cancer are difference in the breast size and shape, skin dimpling, nipple inversion and nipple discharge.
It has been established that over 40% of breast cancer cases can be prevent and treated if detected early enough. That’s why women and men are advised to always do the breast examination check-up and if they detect a lump they should report immediately. Breast cancer can be prevented through reduction of alcohol, less smoking, increase in exercise activities like walking, jogging and swimming, maintaining a healthy weight. But there are scenarios where breast cancer can’t be avoided and that’s if it is hereditary from a family history of breast cancer.
